Born in the vibrant city of Naples in 1987, Mariano Buccino cultivated his passion for music from a young age, joining a boys’ choir and learning to play the piano. His dedication led him to excel in vocal and compositional studies, culminating in a summa cum laude degree from the prestigious San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples. His thirst for knowledge guided him to Rome, where he honed his skills at the Opera Studio of the Santa Cecilia Academy under the expert eye of Renata Scotto.
His career took a decisive turn in 2015 when, at just 28 years old, Mariano made his mark as a finalist in the 53rd Voci Verdiane International Singing Competition in Busseto. This success paved the way for further victories, such as the 7th International Singing Competition of the City of Ravello and the 65th “AsLiCo” International Vocal Competition, which allowed him to take on prominent roles like Il commendatore in Mozart’s production of “Don Giovanni,” directed by Graham Vick for Opera Lombardia.
Mariano performs key roles such as Silva (Ernani), Enrico VIII (Anna Bolena), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Oroveso (Norma), Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Re & Ramfis (Aida), Colline (La Boheme), Timur (Turandot), Gennaro Iovine (Napoli Milionaria), Orbazzano (Tancredi), and Il Commendatore (Don Giovanni).
He graced the stages of illustrious theaters such as Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Municipale di Piacenza and other.
His artistry also took him beyond Italian borders, with international appearances at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Sarasota Opera House in Florida, the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc in Rijeka, the Malmö Opera, and the Musikfest Bremen.
Among his significant concert engagements, Mariano has moved audiences with Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem” in memory of the victims of Hiroshima, Rossini’s “Petite Messe Solennelle,” and Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater.”
His future projects include roles such as Sparafucile in “Rigoletto” in Tel Aviv, Raimondo in “Lucia di Lammermoor” in Zaragoza, and a highly anticipated debut at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples.
